Journeyman Carpenter Trainer – Nunavik, Quebec (en anglais)

** Nunavik, Quebec – Full time – $55/h (based on CCQ)

Your main role will be to train apprentices in various trades by supervising their tasks and working alongside them to foster the development of practical, on-the-job skills.

Main responsabilities

• Oversee apprentices’work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standards.
• Keep records of training hours, skills demonstrated, and overall progress of apprentices.
• Build relationships with other members and support workers.
• Offer guidance, support, and encouragement to help apprentices develop their abilities and confidence.
• Supervise projects and members, ensuring project safety and efficiency.
• Showcase proper techniques by working side by side with apprentices on real construction projects.

Profile and skills

• Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in the construction field.
• Journeyman competency certificate (JCC)
• Respect for Inuit knowledge systems, learning styles, and ways of life.
• Understand the importance of trust-building in indigenous contexts.
• Believe in cooperation decision-making and shared leadership.
• Comfortable traveling extensively and working on the land.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to hands-on, visual, and story-based learning styles.

Conditions of employment

• Working on 2 or 3 weeks rotation
• Fly-in/Flu-out’commuting
• 8 am-5 PM, Monday to Saturday
