Journeyman Carpenter Trainer – Nunavik, Quebec (en anglais)
** Nunavik, Quebec – Full time – $55/h (based on CCQ)
Your main role will be to train apprentices in various trades by supervising their tasks and working alongside them to foster the development of practical, on-the-job skills.
Main responsabilities
- Oversee apprentices’work, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standards.
- Keep records of training hours, skills demonstrated, and overall progress of apprentices.
- Build relationships with other members and support workers.
- Offer guidance, support, and encouragement to help apprentices develop their abilities and confidence.
- Supervise projects and members, ensuring project safety and efficiency.
- Showcase proper techniques by working side by side with apprentices on real construction projects.
Profile and skills
- Minimum 5-10 years of hands-on experience in the construction field.
- Journeyman competency certificate (JCC)
- Respect for Inuit knowledge systems, learning styles, and ways of life.
- Understand the importance of trust-building in indigenous contexts.
- Believe in cooperation decision-making and shared leadership.
- Comfortable traveling extensively and working on the land.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to hands-on, visual, and story-based learning styles.
Conditions of employment
- Working on 2 or 3 weeks rotation
- Fly-in/Flu-out’commuting
- 8 am-5 PM, Monday to Saturday
- Paid travel days and food allowance
